About Curbside Pickup

The option for new curbside pickup orders is now coming back September 17th.

About Holiday Shopping

So, it looks like we’re supposed to expect supply chain disruptions and shipping issues again this year. Without any further ado, here are our ordering deadlines for the 2021 holiday season:

Media Mail: Wednesday, November 24th

Priority Mail and Ground Shipping: Wednesday December 1st

Curbside Pickup: Wednesday, December 8th

Why are the deadlines so early?

Last year, I noticed delayed shipping and…ahem…irregularities across all of the shipping options. It was stressful for me and it was stressful for our customers. If the order deadlines are too late, we simply won’t have enough time to get a replacement item in quickly enough.

If shipping is usually faster than curbside, why is the curbside pickup later?

It is. The problem is that, when a package is delayed or if the item is damaged, that transit time starts to work against you.

Will you have any options for last-minute shopping?

Absolutely. You’re going to be limited to what we have on hand, but we will have a Holiday Shop page on our site where you’ll be able to <drumroll and fanfare> buy books and gift items that are available for same-day curbside pickup. And, yes, we’ll have our collectibles available.

September Book Preview

“The Afghanistan Papers: A Secret History of the War” by Craig Whitlock
The Afghanistan Papers A Secret History of the War by Craig Whitlock

Unfortunately, this has become a very relevant book. I hate to say that we’re living history because that’s a fairly cliché thing to say, but we are. I’m not going to say that you should read this book no matter how you feel about the current withdrawal from Afghanistan. I’m telling you that you should read this book to figure out how you feel about the current withdrawal. Knowledge is power, y’all.

“Horizontal Parenting: How to Entertain Your Kid While Lying Down” by Michelle Woo, illustrated by Dasha Tolstikova

Depending on how rough the last 18 months of pandemic life has been treating you, this book will either good for a great laugh or it’ll be a great “how-to” guide. I’m not saying that the parents I know will definitely be getting this for the holidays, but….
